Papio cynocephalus (Yellow Baboon)

The yellow baboon (Papio cynocephalus) is a large terrestrial primate native to East Africa, ranging across savannas, grasslands, and bushland habitats from Kenya to Tanzania. These highly social primates live in troops and are known for their complex family structures and maternal care. Yellow baboons inhabit the Northern Acacia-Commiphora bushlands and thickets of the Afrotropic ecoregion, where they forage for grasses, seeds, and invertebrates. Tsavo West National Park in Kenya's Taita Taveta region provides critical habitat for this species, where they can be observed moving through the landscape in family groups.
