Chlorocebus pygerythrus (Vervet Monkey)

The vervet monkey (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) is a small primate native to sub-Saharan Africa, found across a range of habitats from savanna and bushland to woodland edges. Juveniles are particularly active and playful, engaging in solitary and social play that helps develop motor skills and social behaviors essential for survival. In Tsavo West National Park, located in southeastern Kenya's Taita Taveta region, vervet monkeys inhabit the Northern Acacia-Commiphora bushlands and thickets, where they forage for fruits, seeds, and vegetation. Though listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, their populations are experiencing a decreasing trend across their range.
