Oreotragus oreotragus (klipspringer)
The klipspringer is a small, stocky antelope native to the rocky outcrops and mountainous regions of sub-Saharan Africa. Perfectly adapted to harsh, arid terrain, this species is found across East Africa, including Kenya's Tsavo West National Park, where volcanic lava fields provide ideal habitat. Klipspringers are known for their remarkable agility on steep, rocky ground, where their specialized hooves allow them to navigate terrain inaccessible to larger predators. They are typically solitary or found in pairs, spending much of their day resting in shaded areas among rocks before becoming active during cooler parts of the day.
