Damaliscus korrigum (Topi)

The topi (Damaliscus korrigum) is a medium-sized antelope found across sub-Saharan Africa's grasslands and savannas. Known for their alert posture and dark reddish-brown coloring, topis are highly territorial and often seen standing on elevated ground or termite mounds to survey their surroundings. In Kenya's Masai Mara, they inhabit the acacia-dotted grasslands alongside wildebeest, zebras, and other grazers. Topis are diurnal and crepuscular, remaining active during the cooler hours of dawn and dusk, making them well-adapted to the open savanna where they rely on keen vision and speed to detect and escape predators.
