Glaucidium radiatum (Jungle Owlet)

The Jungle Owlet is a small, widespread owl found across the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, inhabiting deciduous and mixed forests, woodland edges, and cultivated areas. Distinguished by its compact size, heavily barred plumage, and prominent yellow eyes, this species is primarily nocturnal but may be spotted resting in trees during daylight hours. The East Deccan moist deciduous forests of central India, including the region around Seoni and Kurai in Madhya Pradesh, provide ideal habitat with a mix of dense tree cover and open woodland typical of the species' range.
