Lamprotornis regius (Golden-breasted Starling)
The Golden-breasted Starling is a striking iridescent bird found across the arid and semi-arid savannas of East Africa, from southern Ethiopia through Kenya to northern Tanzania. It inhabits acacia bushland and grassland scrub, often seen in small flocks foraging on the ground or perching conspicuously on low vegetation. The species feeds primarily on insects and seeds, moving restlessly through its habitat in search of food. In Kenya's Tsavo East National Park, this starling is a characteristic resident of the Northern Acacia-Commiphora bushlands, where its vivid plumage—blue crown, orange breast, and purple-black wings—makes it one of the region's most recognizable birds.
