Tockus erythrorhynchus (Northern Red-billed Hornbill)
The Northern Red-billed Hornbill is a small hornbill species found across the savannas and arid woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa, with a range extending from the Sahel southward. These birds are highly social and often observed in pairs or small groups, particularly during breeding season when males and females engage in synchronized displays and vocalizations to reinforce pair bonds. They inhabit open grasslands and acacia-commiphora bushlands, where they forage for insects, small reptiles, and plant matter on the ground and in trees. In Kenya's Tsavo East National Park, they are common residents of the dry savanna habitat, where their distinctive calls and coordinated movements make them conspicuous members of the avian community.
