Had no luck finding a cooperative male lion out in the open for the classic photo. They all seemed to be far away, or surrounded by safari trucks, or resting under the cover of vegetation. So, i was forced to see if I could…
Wait, wait, strike that… wrong caption. Let’s start over.
“There ain’t no way to hide your lion eyes”*
Despite this male lion concealing himself from photographers (and the midday sun) under a clump of trees you can’t miss the intensity of that stare – just enough sun coming through to provide a nice catchlight. Hopefully the out of focus foreground leaves make for an interesting composition – I think it works.
